My prayer for you
I followed you here
I don’t know where these words come from sometimes
I used to think that plants just grew in the cracks —
now I think they help make them.
There is a holy machine that needs oiled today,
after and before it's disassembled.
My prayer for you is a clean sewing machine
with smooth stitches
and a pleasant hum.
The colors you need, and someone to help you
when you hit a snag, and you don’t know what to do next.
My prayer for you
is warm enough clothes, that fit well
They were made for you,
and they allow you to be the person you are becoming.
Steadfast
Powerful
Creative
Clear.
I hope your clothes make you feel calm - held - protected - and inspired.
My prayer for you is sun and cold creek beds,
Grass and soil to test the fabrics.
Places to go to be admired, and woven in —
adding your strands to the thread of a community that depends on you,
makes food with you, and for you —
smells wafting up out of the open air courtyard kitchen
out towards heaven in the streets —
for birds to wonder about, the changing temperature of the wind.
My prayer for you is a good night’s rest, again and again.
To perceive the light of morning with calm, or euphoria.
Clean sheets, blankets with a soft texture
Ease in your joints.
Eventually, a few tears in your clothes so that you may learn, and remember, how to fix things
and someday teach someone else.
