We are drifting away from the safe shores of organized religion and into the open waters of the soul.  We are drifting in droves.  Whether we started out in evangelical Christian spaces or cultural Jewish families, embraced Hinduism or Buddhism as adults, or called any of the other traditions home and claimed their tenets as truth, we are no longer in the mood for religious language and not falling for their absolute proclamations.

And yet, we are not giving up on the life of the soul.  We may be deconstructing the institutions, but we are hungry for the sacred.  In increasing numbers, we are daring to name ourselves: we are spiritual but not religious.
