Embodied Writing
A 7-Day Practice
with Mirabai Starr
Reclaim your authentic voice and galvanize your soul with a self-paced immersion in writing as a spiritual practice.
Writing is a way to meet your life. Your life as it is and as you imagine it could be. As it was and as it might have been.
In this self-paced immersion, Mirabai offers gentle guidance, selected writings about writing, and juicy prompts to return to again and again.
When you write without directing or correcting yourself, write freely and fast, you sift through the layers of surface thoughts and land in the middle of your own wild core, where you discover your authentic voice.
This is a contemplative practice and an embodied one. It is meditation and it is also art. You are not just expelling venom. You are offering the lead of your experience into the fire of creativity where it is transmuted into gold. Something beautiful and luminous.
Beauty is sometimes ugly. Luminosity is sometimes deeply dark.
Would you like to revitalize your connection to reading poetry as a source of inspiration in your own writing (whether poetry or prose)?
Does the beauty of language light up your life?
Maybe you keep a collection of Persian poetry beside your favorite chair and pick it up when you nestle in with a cup of tea on a cold afternoon. Or you love losing yourself in a good novel on a long flight.
There are probably books you read in your youth that still haunt you—The Diaries of Anaïs Nin or The Alchemist, House of the Spirits or Be Here Now—and you know your consciousness was partly formed by your intimacy with those pages.
Words on the page, crafted with care, render the most ordinary experience holy, and the most rarified moments grounded and accessible.
